Those effected with social phobia lack self-esteem and avoid interacting with people and especially those with authority or in a high position (Lucia, C. (2014)). Usually they struggle to be able to speak or perform to small groups (Pointing, M. (2014)). They feel judged, they fear looking how they feel (uncomfortable or awkward), they don't want to be perceived as weird, strange, stupid, incompetent or boring (Campbell, R. Reeds, B (2005)). As they are attempting to speak or interact these negative thoughts are playing through the persons mind causing the effected person to lose their chain of thought causing them to stumble with words and be judged (Cooper, K. Howard, J. Ward, L. (2010)).
